The L.A. Chapter, Part One

Wednesday 23 March 2005

Cameron swung by Stanford in the morning, and we were off to L.A. We took the semi-scenic route, passing through some Sideways country on the way up, and listening to the Magnetic Fields' complete 69 Love Songs along the way. We played The Luckiest Guy on the Lower East Side twice. It was good.

About 8 hours later, give or take time for shitty traffic conditions, and we were in Los Angeles, City of Angels. First up, driving Kevin Welch to the airport, where he was supposed to fly to San Francisco (I know, it sounds kinda silly, considering we'd just come from there) to see his friend's play. Later we found out that the play was Closer, and his friend played Clive Owen's part. Apparently it was quite good.

We had dinner with a whole bunch of film people after that, which was exciting and fun. Present were Arielle, Adam Marshall + girlfriend (whose name escapes me now), Philip Crippen (!) Daniel Viney, Debbie Chung, and of course Cameron, me and Jingli. Apparently Crip gets to cut previews for WB shows now, which seems to be perfect for him. Good company (mostly) and good food. I did feel bad for Jingli though; having dinner with a whole bunch of people who you don't know really sucks, and I'm sorry he felt awkward.

Here we are, in glorious widescreen:
